Wireless broadband startup, Clearwire Corp., now offers WiMAX service in 50
distinct markets worldwide, after bringing its highspeed wireless internet
service to Rochester, New York, earlier this week.
Clearwire will compete with Verizon Communications and Time Warner Cable in the
Rochester broadband market, but will not launch its VoIP internet telephony
service in the city at this time.
Founded by wireless entrepreneur, Criag McCaw, Kirkland, Washingtonbased
Clearwire offers highspeed internet access in dozens of U.S. markets, as well
as parts of Europe and Mexico, using a nonstandardized version of WiMAX
technology.
