Kirkland, Washingtonbased wireless ISP, Clearwire Corp., announced this week
that it plans to integrate a number of Google’s online communication tools —
including GMail, Google Calendar, and Google Talk — with its WiMAXbased
broadband service.
Clearwire plans to offer up the web giant’s communication services by the middle
of this year, then integrate Google Search capabilities, including AdSense
advertisements, with many of its online portal applications.
Founded in 2003 by wireless entrepreneur, Craig McCaw, Clearwire now provides
wireless internet access to more than 348,000 wireless internet users in 46 U.S.
markets. Its service is based on a preWiMAX mobile broadband system
manufactured by Motorola, which offers wireless download speeds of up to
1.5Mbps.
