The popularity of the internet, and of broadband in particular, continued to
rise in the UK last year, with 60% of the population going online.
eMarketer determined that about 37 million Britons used the internet each month
in 2007, and predicts that 70% of the country’s population will be online by
2012. The magazine also expects the UK to account for 40% of western Europe’s
online sales this year.
“Britain has one of the most experienced and active online populations in the
world,” commented survey author, Karin von Abrams. “Confidence in ecommerce is
high.”
