Portugal Telecom (PTC.LS: Quote, Profile, Research) launched its Meo
television channel on satellite, competing with leading rival Zon Multimedia (ZON.LS:
Quote, Profile, Research), the company said on Wednesday.
The channel is part of Portugal Telecoms move to diversify its sources of
revenue away from its fixedline and mobile phone businesses as competition in
the local market increases. PT already offers Meo through its cable network. Meo
television will also be available on mobile phones through Meo Mobile, PT said.
