Romania’s mobile accessories market will grow by 50% this year, according to a release by electronics retailer, Germanos.
Changes to the country’s Traffic Code, mandating the use of hands-free headsets while driving are likely a major contributor to this trend, but generally strong global demand for cell phone chargers, batteries, cases, and other accessories are also driving growth.
“With a value estimated at €8 to €10 million, the mobile phone accessories market in Romania will witness a spectacular dynamics in 2008 as well,” according to Germano’s commercial manager of mobile telephony, Alexandru Munteanu. “The growth will mainly target the fashion and high-tech segments. Step by step, the hands-free Bluetooth systems will replace the classic hands free with wires, while the data transfer will not be made through cable but through the Bluetooth technology, that allows wireless communication between devices on an area up to 100 meters.”
Germanos currently operates upwards of 800 retail outlets in four countries.
