New Jersey-based Locus Communications, which sells international prepaid calling cards in Florida, must give its customers all the long-distance minutes promised and fully disclose its fees and charges, under a settlement with the Florida Attorney Generals Office announced Tuesday.
Locus also agreed to pay $105,000 to The Hispanic Institute, which assisted the attorney generals investigation.
This is the 13th such company to settle with the state over unfair and deceptive trade practices.
State regulators advise prepaid card purchasers to demand a guarantee on the number of minutes, look for disclosures about added fees and surcharges and check expiration dates
