The city Emergency Services Department is warning residents about a fraudulent telephone solicitation involving the purchase of a medical identification card for paramedic services
The department said residents have reported receiving calls from someone who claims that residents need to buy an identification card that is required by ambulance personnel. The caller says that paramedics require the information contained on the card when responding to a 911 call.
The caller also says there is a small fee associated with the processing of the card and asks that the resident provide personal medical and billing information over the phone.
Emergency Services officials remind residents that paramedics do not require any type of medical identification card. City personnel also do not solicit financial information from patients.
