Taipei, April 8 (CNA) Chunghwa Telecom said Friday that it will open more than 8,000 public pay phones that will accept smart credit cards to pay for domestic and international calls starting this Sunday.
Taiwan's largest telecom operator said this option will be available in addition to coin slots and IC phone card outlets already installed on the phones. Now, with chip credit cards, customers can enjoy making phone calls now, and pay later.
The company said that when using the chip card to dial, the authorized credit line will be NT$200 for each call. The process is designed for those who have to make international calls but do not have coins or IC phone cards.
These multi-payment phones will mainly be available in such high-traffic areas as convenience stores, bus stations and train
