AT&T Inc. is branching out into the mobilebanking business, the company said
San Antoniobased AT&T (NYSE: T News) has formed a new partnership with
Charlotte, N.C.based Wachovia Corp. (NYSE: WB News), mobilebanking payment
provider Firethorn Holdings LLC and CheckFree Corp. (NASDAQ: CKFR News), both
based in Atlanta.
The relationship will give Wachovia customers the ability to view account
balances and transaction history, transfer funds and pay bills from their AT&T
wireless handsets. All wireless transactions will be encrypted.
Customers will need an AT&T wireless data plan to access mobile banking.
