In an aggressive move to increase its share of the Indian mobile phone
market, Bharti TeleVentures, has drastically reduced the cost of making
international long distance calls over its network.
The cost of calling around the world for Bharti’s subscribers will now be cut in
half, which fits into the overall trend of declining mobile calling prices in
the Indian market.
Although this trend is leading to lower average revenue per user, it is speeding
up adoption of mobile services among customer in India. And this in turn
provides further incentive for providers to compete for the allegiance of the 4
million new mobile phone customers who enter this fastgrowing market each
month.
